1. Karl Lagerfeld Faux Leather Skinny Pants- $59.70 (on sale now!) 2. Zara High Heel Boots-$99.99 3. Old Navy Chambray- $24.95 4. OASAP Oversized Lapel Coat- $48 5. Marni Clutch- $590 6. Zara Knit Sweater- $79.90
I have been totally inspired by all the grey streetstyle outfits on Pinterest lately! I put together a look that layers some bulky grey pieces on top but is balanced out by sleek streamlined pieces on bottom. I couldn't believe how cheap the Karl Lagerfeld Skinny pants were! Gotta love the Outnet. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, it's back to the old grind for me.

Prada Candy L'Eau images via
Happy Saturday! It's cold and gross today in Pittsburgh and I plan on spending it cleaning our apartment, doing some reading, and if I decide to get really crazy maybe venturing out to Home Depot. Here are some awesome links to peruse this weekend:
Fashion: One of my favorite new fashion marketing trends is using video to showcase new products. I recently came across a film for Prada Candy L'Eau by my favorite director of all time Wes Anderson in association with Roman Coppola. With two great cinema minds like that the end result is simply delightful.
Beauty: Here is a quick lesson in brushes 101 if you happen to be a makeup idiot like me. I personally use the finger smearing method because fingers are free but I always like to learn!
Decor: If you are in the mood to add some old school sixties glam to a new space you've got to check our Lonny's roundup of lucite decor.
DIY: I haven't done tried any DIY projects lately and I am itching to try one. I found this cool fringe clutch tutorial on Design Sponge that I would love to give a try. Fair warning though, it looks a little advanced and sewing is required.
Book Club: I am keeping up with my one-book-a-month resolution well. This month I started out with the book "Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion" and found the first chapters fascinating but I put it on temporarily on hold to reread "Catching Fire" before the movie comes out next month.

I have recently become enamored with open shelving in kitchens. The Mister and I have had to come up with some creative storage solutions for our tiny 50-square-foot-smaller-than-our-bathroom kitchen. We ended up putting some open metal shelving in the dining area but the end result was nowhere near as stylish as some of these kitchens.
While open shelving offers a wide range of design options for storing and display, the practicality is a little lacking. I think I lack the discipline for the extra dusting and the necessity of keeping everything well organized and in its place. I wouldn't like a kitchen with only open shelving but I would like a small area to display all of our stark white serving ware. On the plus side it is less expensive than full cabinets but on the negative side it requires more maintenance. I guess it depends on your personality.
Would you give open shelving a try?

I need a bit of whimsical inspiration to make it through the work day today. I'm also taking my husband's advice and posting what makes me happy. J Law gifs and beautiful gardens make me happy.
